The team and clients enjoyed a fabulous afternoon out at the Mercure Hotel in Maidstone in aid of Action Medical Research for Children.  Celebrity guest Tony Hadley of Spandau Ballet, who is a personal friend of Carol’s, shared a fun afternoon with 202 guests at a sit down meal, auction, raffle and performance by Tony to a host of fans whereby the finale was taken to great heights with an audience of wine, women and song to GOLD!!

Action Medical Research for Children is a charity which has touched everyone of you, I am sure, at some point in your lives.  Did you know they funded the research for the Polio injection, which I am sure most of us have had as a child?  They funded the research for ultrasound for hospitals and the charity has allowed doctors to successfully test a new computer program to guide and improve the use of an antibiotic commonly given to treat infections in babies.  Gentamicin is the most commonly used antibiotic but getting a dose that is both safe and effective is not always straightforward. Having shown their program is accurate, the next step will be to develop more user-friendly software suitable for wider use in the NHS.  Around 12% of newborn babies receive antibiotics.

Action Medical Research for Children – Helping children with Down syndrome to see more clearly – vision problems are common in children with Down syndrome.  New research funded by Action aims to ensure each child gets the best possible glasses.

These are just a couple of extracts to highlight the type of work this charity helps, on Friday 9th October the Ladies lunch raised in excess of £14,000 which we are all very proud of.  The charity celebrity supporters are Davina MCall, Jayne Torvill, Sophie Raworth, Kate Adie, Lady Annable Goldie, Chris Boardman, Lesley Waters.  His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh is the charity patron.
